Sigh..

This week has been long, and rough. Not only is everyone deciding to transfer their RX's us, but the other pharmacies are being bitches to us. When I call for ONE copy I'm put on hold for 10 minutes. I know for a fact that this pharmacy has two pharmacists until they close. Sure the require a pharmacist to give out copies, but it doesnt take them over TEN minutes to get to a phone. Especially not when their tech answers the phone after the first ring. This never happened before my company decided to give away generic RX's for cheap. So thank you WM for being an asshole. Next time you call us asking how to do someone's insurance because you can't read the card. Don't ask me to look in our records. I will tell you what ever 7 numbers I feel like saying, heck I might throw in a few letters for fun.

Forged.. again!

Well.... yesterday we had a forged script! We heard about one going around town and we had the pleasure keeping it and turning the person in to the good ol local DEA. It was from an emergancy center and was written as follows: Lortab 5/500 1-2 t q4-6h prpa # 120. They added an extra '1' to the quanity. The person could have gotten away with it if they would have recieved the same script from their regular doc. This person is a regular so I wonder if she'll still come in after she's done with the trial and everything. Other than that we have a new Pharmacist who just got his license to work in America. He's good. He checks EVERYTHING. I dont mind that, I'd rather him take an extra 5 minutes but he'll tell someone to sure be they don't get hyperglcymic when they've have diabetes for 10 years. I mean come on, sometimes it's too much. But then again, we have a pharmacist working here that I hate working with because I'm almost sure he's going to kill someone. He's misfilled a narc the other day. MSIR instead of MSER. He's missed new scripts all the time. I'm off to work... wooooooo.

Introduction

Well I've been here reading everyone's blogs for a while. I finally decided to make one of my own. I work in a retail pharmacy loving yet dreading every minute of it. I'm a tech wishing I was a pharmacist so I can tell every drug seeking person to go to the pharmacy across the street. But for now all I can tell them is that they are 7/30 days and should still have enough meds left. I experience everything all other pharmacy works experience. The pharmacy I work is in the poorer part of the town, with that comes drug seekers.

Right now I'm in my second semester in undergrad. It's going so-so. I'm not the biggest fan of school and that's not going to change anytime soon.

As for what has happened recently in my work life.. we've been reasonably slow/normal. Yesterday we managed 250 one hour before closing. We've been slow considering it's towards the end of the month and everyone has hit their 5 scripts they get a month from our lovely Gov't! In the first/second weeks of the month we average 350ish. Most of them come in at the same time as usual.

Oh the joys of pharmacy!!
