Holidays

So I know everyone loves holidays at home. I would love holidays even more if I didn't have to work the day before the weekend of a holiday, and the day after. Thankfully this weekend I was off. I did however have to work a 9 hour shift after being in class for 5 hours. It was nonstop. Our wait time was going up to 45 minutes and that never happens. Unless it's Thanksgiving or Christmas. This is only Labor day. I think something which increased our business is that its the end of the month/the 1st. Everyone has to use up their 5 RX's from the state provided gov't insurance. God forbid they can't get one of them because the refill is too soon.

Our Internet isn't working and we can't figure out how to fix it. Right now I am sitting against my bedroom wall closest to my neighbors house stealing their wifi. This is shameful...

Long time no blog..

So I haven't posted in a while due to the fact of flying back and forth from where my beau is, and working 12 hr shifts to make up for the time that I was away. I swear, when you work 12 hours everyone knows and tries to give you a hard time over the most simple things. The past weeks have been full of giving statements to DEA's about forgeries that we catch, fixing a dumb-ass pharmacists mistakes, and walking my pooch. About the forgeries. I happened to be the person who caught both, go me! I like the catch them, but I don't like the fact that you have to write a witness statement explaining everyyythinngg. I mean, you take the RX, notice it is crap, and tell the person to leave. We have a Pharmacist who I'm pretty sure I've mentioned here, if I didn't, then I'm surprises. I HATE working when he is closing. He's not too bad when there is another Pharmacist around. But as soon as they leave he acts like a 10 yr old and doesn't do his job. Unfortunately he acts the same way about checking RX's. He lets mistakes slip through, and is too chicken to call the patient to say hey, what you got is wrong. There are 2 things that bother me the most about how he does his job.
#1 He wants to do everything, including the tech's job. And when he does that he screws that up! When there is a new patient, instead of filling out the HANDY new patient form, he scribbles all of their info on the FRONT of the RX. He doesn't ask if they have any medical problems, or if they have any allergies.
#2 Audits. He likes to go and AUDIT the RX's he's checked. First of all, we do that so a second set of eyes check to make sure everything is right. We've caught stuff that he's missed when he AUDITS. And he's been screwing up CII's.
School starts in 2 weeks and I've never been this excited. I got all my school supplies ready this evening. Yes, I'm that bored.

More rambling later.

Professors

It really irks me when a professor gives you a bad grade because you didn't write a paper exactly like they would have. I have been in advanced and AP english classes my whole life. I was taken out of class and taught seperatly with a few other students. So how do I make an F on a simple analysis paper? Because I didn't have the same understanding of the poem as the teacher did. I didn't go onto sparknotes and look up what they said and copy that. Today I am meeting with the teacher to explain this to her. Hopefully she understands that other people can have different opinions.

My states govvernment issued insurance has had a lot of their insuree's commit Rx forgeree's. So in order for them to prevent this, they are requiring us to enter a PA code for every new Rx we recieve from one of their customers. We have to do this for a MONTH. We have to do this to ensure that we have verified that the Rx is not a fraud. WHYYYYYYYYY WHYYYYYYYYY WHYYYYYYYYYY. We make sure it isn't a fraud to the best of ablitity. I'm so pissed.

Now I have to write 2 papers. Go college.

New Pharmacist at a sister store..

Today when I came in someone asked me to transfer an RX from a store across town to us. This isn't a problem as we can see what they have at the other store. I see that it was filled a few days ago so I call over there (1st time) to ask them to take it off the shelf and log it. (Let me give you a background on this store.. A tech that has been certified for over 10 yrs doesn't know how to log a script, She thinks you can "shoot" a script from pharmacy to pharmacy just by "transferring it out" Ugh, no. I just gets lost in transfer land. She's done this to me multiple times as I scream NOOOO in the phone. No one in this pharmacy has any idea whats going on. I think there is one tech who knows what is going on but that's because she came from a different store.) Five minutes later I try to transfer it.. it's not logged yet. So I call there again and slightly frustrated ask the pharmacist who answers to back it out (2nd time). 5 minutes later I try again. ITS NOT BACKED OUT YET (*&*&^$#*). So finally I let our pharmacist know what's going on because I am ridiculously pissed off. He calls there(3rd time), talks to the same pharmacist who says "Oh, it didn't work? Let me try this.." At this point we're all crossing our fingers that they don't do something stupid. Guess what happened? HE DELETED THE SCRIPT!!!! This is when our pharmacist asks for a tech.. She then gives him the original script over the phone.

Why don't people ask for help? Even if you're pharmacist, if you don't know what you're doing ASK!!!

Another thing, why does this company I work for send all the stupid people to one store??

Sigh..

This week has been long, and rough. Not only is everyone deciding to transfer their RX's us, but the other pharmacies are being bitches to us. When I call for ONE copy I'm put on hold for 10 minutes. I know for a fact that this pharmacy has two pharmacists until they close. Sure the require a pharmacist to give out copies, but it doesnt take them over TEN minutes to get to a phone. Especially not when their tech answers the phone after the first ring. This never happened before my company decided to give away generic RX's for cheap. So thank you WM for being an asshole. Next time you call us asking how to do someone's insurance because you can't read the card. Don't ask me to look in our records. I will tell you what ever 7 numbers I feel like saying, heck I might throw in a few letters for fun.

Forged.. again!

Well.... yesterday we had a forged script! We heard about one going around town and we had the pleasure keeping it and turning the person in to the good ol local DEA. It was from an emergancy center and was written as follows: Lortab 5/500 1-2 t q4-6h prpa # 120. They added an extra '1' to the quanity. The person could have gotten away with it if they would have recieved the same script from their regular doc. This person is a regular so I wonder if she'll still come in after she's done with the trial and everything. Other than that we have a new Pharmacist who just got his license to work in America. He's good. He checks EVERYTHING. I dont mind that, I'd rather him take an extra 5 minutes but he'll tell someone to sure be they don't get hyperglcymic when they've have diabetes for 10 years. I mean come on, sometimes it's too much. But then again, we have a pharmacist working here that I hate working with because I'm almost sure he's going to kill someone. He's misfilled a narc the other day. MSIR instead of MSER. He's missed new scripts all the time. I'm off to work... wooooooo.
